Shake ups and renames — Rowan/Kit
Point of reference: anything typed by Rowan will be in italics, anything done by Kit will be normal. This was done post-write up, we had a conversation to figure out who wrote what. I just know they were sort of fighting over fronting while they were typing this so it switched between them A LOT. — Lucas
So the past week or two has been pretty interesting/stressful for us. We had a job interview (loooove presenting as a totally neurotypical person) and yay we got the job! Unfortunately that, combined with the stress of moving, financial worries and finding out that we start said job literally the day after we move was a little much for our dear host Lucas. So he’s stepped down from host duties for a little bit, meaning 9/10 times it’s actually Rowan fronting rather than Lucas. They’ve made a deal that Rowan is to deal with everything regarding the move and paperwork-type things, and Lucas is going to worry about starting work and settling in etc. The rest of us are just going about life the way we normally would — not fronting and trying not to get in the way. Except Jimmy, of course, who has spent the past two weeks ranting and raving about dinosaurs almost constantly.
In other news, there’s been a few changes name-wise in the system. It can take us a little while to properly settle and find a full name that suits us, so the names we started this blog with, for me and Godric at least were sort of placeholders. We have different surnames to Lucas/’the body’, but not all of us have the same one, and it can take us a hot minute or two to settle on our final full names, but we finally have! So Elijah and Lucas had the bright idea that it would be nice to put it on the blog so we have a ‘proper record’ of it. Obviously not including Luc’s full name, because we don’t want this to get linked back to him at any point before he’s ready to be totally open with the world about being a system. So here’s our list of names and where we actually got them from (coz that’s kind of interesting).
Rowan Anthony Draven — the name ‘Rowan Draven’ came from a character that Lucas created that was based off of me when I first appeared. I can’t remember why he chose that name for the character, I just know that it’s a Creepypasta known as ‘The Hunter’ and the name Draven is somehow linked to Hunter through some kind of Old English or something like that. Anthony is my middle name because it’s the name I first went by, and I kind of wanted to keep it.
Elijah James Branwen — This one is a little complicated. Elijah initially went by the name Jim, inspired by Jim Moriarty from BBC’s Sherlock. He changed to Elijah when he was talking to Lucas about The Vampire Diaries and realized that Elijah Mikaelson in that was a better fit character-wise for him (most of us have gotten our names from characters lmao). His middle name is James as a nod to previously going by Jim, and his surname is Branwen because Lucas suggested it and he had already adopted it by the time he found out that the surname Branwen is from RWBY — a show that Lucas has a bit of an obsession with.
James (Jimmy) Michael Branwen — So Jimmy actually got his name from Luc’s middle name, but shortened it to Jimmy based on Elijah’s old name. We’re not 100% where Michael came from but that’s a thing, I think it fits pretty well. And his surname is Branwen because Elijah is basically his dad, so kind of unofficially adopted him.
Godric Damien Mikaelson — Fun fact, Godric is actually what’s known as a ‘ficitve’, or a ‘fictional introject’. He’s an alter that formed because of a character that embodies that character. In his specific case, he’s a fictive of the version of Godric Gryffindor that Lucas is using in his fan fiction, who is a vampire that cycles through names as each ‘lifetime’ comes to an end. Unfortunately for us, the point that Godric appears to have originated from is when the character, going by Godric Mikaelson, is in a Ripper state and is pretty much as promiscous and murderous as you can get. Since forming, he’s chilled out a fair amount, but we’re still wary of him since that’s what he’s an introject of. Oh, and he literally JUST got the middle name Damien because we googled boy’s names derived from Greek (the character he’s an introject of is a demigod who’s dad is the Greek god Hades, so we figured greek would be cool). Apparently it means something along the lines of ‘to tame or subdue’ and the psycho thought that was a perfect fit so here we are.
And finally the best til last, me.
Katerina Olivia Mikaelson — I originally went by just Kit, short for Kitten, since I’m what’s known as a ‘sexual alter’ and when I first started that’s literally all I was. But now I’ve settled into a wider role of keeping the system in touch with their feminine side without us wanting to vomit ( we struggle a lot with toxic masculinity, so anything remotely feminine can trigger serious dysphoria for some if not all of us), I figured I should switch to a slightly more appropriate name. I wanted to still be able to go by Kit, but also kind of liked Katy, so the guys and I have been thinking on it for a little while until Rowan had the bright idea to just google what could be shortened to Kit. It’s usually the name Katherine that’s shortened like that, but that didn’t quite sit right, so Lucas suggested Katerina. It’s similar enough to Katherine that it can still be shortened to Kit or Katy, but it sounds super cool (also Katerina is a character in Vampire Diaries who is a TOTAL badass and I love her, so yay). My middle name is Olivia because I wanted something that would give a nod to our Danish heritage (since none of the boys have done that), and we just googled Danish girls names and went through them until we found one that sounded okay. And my last name is Mikaelson because I’m the closest to Godric and he’s a little possessive of me (not 100% sure if it’s concerning or cute, but I don’t mind) and it sounds cool with my full name.
So that’s the *fascinating* story behind all of our names. I’m now off to kill Katerina for putting my cider away THAT I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO START DRINKING WHEN SHE DECIDED TO FRONT. I wish I had slightly better gatekeeping powers, but apparently Lucas still has the majority of that despite me being the temporary host while he gets his shit together mentally.
