Meet the System — James

Name: James (but he likes Jimmy more)
Gender/Pronouns: Boy, he/him
Age: 10
Origin: No-one’s really sure
Role: Child alter
Time present: 8 months ish (same as Elijah)
Fronting frequency: Very very rare

So since he’s only ten, Jimmy doesn’t want to do this himself because he doesn’t want to mess it up, so I (Rowan) will be writing it for him. Usually Elijah would do things for him, but I’m fronting today (other than the other introduction posts) as compensation for an argument we had yesterday.

Jimmy is the kid, he’s the childhood that we think Lucas never really had after all the rubbish he put himself through around Jimmy’s age. We’re not 100% sure what made Jimmy pop up, but his role is definitely just to be a kid because Lucas didn’t let himself be a kid. Elijah is basically his dad and looks after him most of the time, and he really doesn’t front very often. He only fronts co-consciously with Lucas, and even then it’s only if he really wants to meet someone or if Lucas has had a huge breakdown that would usually result in regressing. Since Lucas doesn’t let himself do that, Jimmy takes over instead as a sort of substitute for it. Most of the time, though, he just hangs out in his room in the internal world or is a sub-fronting influence if he’s in the communal area (our internal world will be explained in another post at some point but it’ll probably be tomorrow or Sunday that we do that).

*Edit by Alex: most of us have Caregiver listed in our roles, and it’s because we all kind of act like caregivers for Jimmy. It’s mainly Elijah’s role, but the rest of us are kinda parental towards him too. Well I’m more like an older brother, but the point still stands.
